This Surrogate Mother Became Pregnant While She Was Already Pregnant!

Allen, recently got vitro fertilisation in April 2016 for a Chinese couple after she agreed to become a surrogate mother for a sum of $30,000 dollars, according to the New York Post.

Six weeks into her pregnancy and Allen was told that she was carrying twins after carrying out a routine ultrasound test. Her payment was increased by $5,000 due to the assumption that the Chinese couples embryos had split into two, creating identical twins.

Allen gave birth to the two twins via a C-section later that year. She received a picture with a message from the Chinese couple a month later of the twins stating ¡°They are not the same, right?¡± followed by, ¡°Have you thought about why they are different?¡±

"I did notice that one was much lighter than the other," Allen said. "You know, obviously they were not identical twins," Allen told ABC News. The boys underwent a DNA test a week later. While Mike had a biological match to the Chinese couple, Max had Allen¡¯s genes.

It turned out that Allen underwent an extremely rare condition called superfetation: a situation in which a pregnant woman continues to ovulate even after becoming pregnant, resulting in a conception of a second child.

In fact, superfetation is so rare that it has only been reported 10 times or so in the medical fraternity. The fact that the twins in this case have a different set of parents makes this situation rarer. Superfetation is more common in the animal kingdom, among animals such as kangaroos, sheep and rodents.

The Chinese couple wanted nothing to do with Max after finding out the truth. As his legal parents they gave him to agency so they can look after him.

In a twist of fate the agency then lined Max up for adoption for nothing less than $18,000 to $22,000 dollars as compensation!

If the agency was to be unsuccessful in this endeavour, the Chinese couple would themselves put Max up for adoption, as they were still his legal parents!

Allen wanted her son back once she learnt about the truth and was disgusted by the fact that her son Max was being treated like a commodity.

To make matters worse the agency further wanted $7,000 in expenses from Allen for the trouble they had to face for looking after Max and the bureaucracy they had to deal with.

Fortunately, after several strained negotiations between Allen and her husband and their lawyer with the agency they brought the fee down to ¡®zero¡¯.

The only expense Allen incurred was $3,000 dollars on their attorney. On February 5th Allen was finally handed over their son, who they later renamed Malachi.
