What are chin fillers, and are they good for you?
According to Harvard Health Publishing, chin fillers are a part of soft dermal fillers, gel-like substances that are injected under the skin. The procedure can address some of the most asked concerns, including smoothing of deep under-eye circles, lifting cheekbones, providing volume to the lips, and also rejuvenation of the hands.
There are certain risks involved in such procedures, but they can be avoided if you choose a certified doctor. ¡°Choosing cosmetic clinics that are not certified may look appealing as they often charge less, but it can negatively affect your skin,¡± says Dr. Shareefa Chause, dermatologist, Dr. Shareefa Skin Care Clinic, Mumbai.
Here are 5 risk factors of chin fillers that one can experience:
Infection: There is an increased risk of experiencing infections once the cosmetic procedure is done. It is when you do not take utmost care of your skin after the surgery or follow the guidelines instructed by the doctor. Over time, it could lead to swelling, skin becoming red, or pus formation.
Bruising and swelling: It¡¯s quite common to get swelling or bruising around the surgical area that is your chin after the injection. The intensity and severity of bruising and swelling can vary from person to person. For some people, it can last longer than expected.
Uneven results: Everyone expects the fillers to show instant and satisfactory results. After the procedure, the fillers may not settle evenly and might look uneven or lumpy. In this case, one may need a few touch-ups or adjustments to fix this unevenness.
Allergic reaction: Although allergies are rare while going through chin fillers, some people experience few allergic reactions. The severity of these allergic reactions might vary from person to person. It can cause itching, redness, and swelling, which can become problematic if ignored.
Nerve damage: In rare cases, there are chances of the needle accidentally causing severe damage to the nerves present in the chin. It can cause side effects like numbness, tingling sensation, or loss of sensation in the wounded area.
