This Hindi show has been inspired by Satya Vyas¡¯ novel Chaurasi. The plot of the show revolves around two interlinked stories in the aftermath of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The eight-episode series, directed by Ranjan Chandel, narrates how the country was shook after the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and how mob attacked Sikh community and torched their homes.
The 1984 anti-Sikh riots killed more than 3000 Sikhs in Delhi and about 8000 people across the entire nation. Also known as 1984 Sikh Massacre, the riots were a series of organised programs by anti-Sikh mobs against the Sikhs community post the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by Sikh bodyguards.
