Whenever you find yourself in Bengaluru, we just can¡¯t control those never-ending 'this commute couldn¡¯t get worse' grumbles. Drivers in Karnataka¡¯s capital, according to a report published in August 2019, spend almost 200 hours stuck in traffic per month. Imagine this: you can watch the three-hour-long, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham a whopping 66 times. Are you cringing yet?
In order to combat the worst traffic in our country, the traffic police in Bengaluru is always coming up with unique ways to control this mind-numbing traffic. And this time, the metropolitan city¡¯s traffic police decided to deploy 30 life-size mannequins, dressed in complete traffic police uniforms, as a way to get drivers to drive properly.
The way farmers use scarecrows to keep birds and other animals AWAY from their crops, the Bengaluru traffic police aim to instill that same fear in the drivers because most people only follow traffic rules ONLY when they see a traffic cop, right? Right.
And that¡¯s not all. A month ago, Bengaluru traffic police launched their road safety week initiative and they brought out Lord Yamraj, the god of death, out on the streets, literally! A person dressed as Yamraj was seen stopping two-wheeler riders who were not wearing helmets and warned them about they pose a grave danger on their life by not following road safety rules. Sheer genius!
It doesn¡¯t end here. If you think Bengaluru traffic police is just putting out characters on the road and not doing anything themselves, think again. Just a month ago, Bengaluru traffic police officers were out on the road, filling potholes themselves, in order to reduce accidents on the road.
While Bengaluru¡¯s residents suffer the horrible traffic congestion in the country, it¡¯s refreshing to see all the unique solutions implemented by Bengaluru¡¯s traffic police!
