100 Feet Tall National Flag Unfurled At Ambala Railway Station As Part Of Beautification Programme
A 100-feet-tall Indian National flag was unfurled at the Ambala Cantonment railway station on Tuesday as part of a railway beautification programme.
A 100-feet-tall Indian National flag was unfurled at the Ambala Cantonment railway station on Tuesday as part of a railway beautification programme. City MP Ratan Lal Kataria unfurled the flag and he also inaugurated an ultra-modern toilet constructed at a cost of Rs 45 lakh.
Under the plan of beautification of railways, the Ministry of Railways provided funds for the railway stations. Kataria praised this decision and said, ¡°The Ministry of Railways has taken a very good decision. The Railways has carried out several development works at the local railway station and the flag would instill a sense of patriotism in people.¡± Tribune India reported.

He also praised the Indian Air Force for launching ¡®non-military¡¯, ¡®pre-emptive¡¯ strikes in Pakistan and destroying the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror camps. ¡°On this day, our army has taken revenge of the Pulwama attack. Ambala is an important station and it¡¯s a historic day when a 100-feet-tall national flag is installed here on this day.¡±
He further added that Indian railways and the french companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop Ambala and Ludhiana stations.
On February 23, a 100 feet tricolor was also unfurled at the Nagpur railway station by Union Minister of Road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari.
Indian Railway stations have often drawn flak for not maintaining hygiene and sanitation on platforms.
Reportedly, besides the National Flag, the railways is also planning to install an aircraft for which the talks are in progress.
Indian Railways has more than 8700 stations and in a press release dated December 27, 2018 under the ¡®Adarsh station scheme¡¯ railways stations are beautified and upgraded. Out of 1253 stations identified under this scheme, 1065 stations so far have been developed under ¡®Adarsh Station Scheme.¡¯ and remaining stations are targeted to be developed by 2018-19.
Indian Railways has decided to beautify Railway Stations with wall art of paintings and graffiti or local arts. Beautification has been done through participation of local artists, volunteers and private groups etc. So far, station walls of 62 stations in 11 Zonal Railways have been painted with Mithila art painting depicting old mythology.
