Two women and a man were taken into custody from Kurla LTT railway terminus with charas worth Rs 2 crore, according to an NCB official said as per a report in PTI.
He said that Aftab Shaikh, Sabir Sayyed and Shamim Quereshi were arrested after they got a tip and seized 6.628 kgs of Kashmiri charas, which is a form of cannabis.
"The three are residents of Kurla East. The contraband caught is Kashmiri charas," he said.
Mumbai NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede said they are suspected of similar offenses earlier too.
"They have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and will be produced in court on Monday," he said
Wankhede said 'Kashmiri charas' is not considered to be as good as the one from Himachal.
It seems that those arrested are carriers who transport it between Delhi and Mumbai.
In the past few weeks, NCB has stepped up operations to take down the illicit drug trade in Mumbai.
