5 Things That Have Changed Forever Since Terrorists Blew Up World Trade Center On 9/11
The World post 9/11.
It has been 17 years since 9/11- an attack that not only changed the course of geopolitical history but also had its implications on the life of almost every human on the planet.

Invasions and subsequent wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, and of course Syria- are big events that shaped the first two decades of the 21st century. But the life of every individual living in even the farthest corner of the world had an effect of it on him.
The life after 9/11 was the same before and here are five ways how almost everybody in this world has been feeling for 17 years now.
1. Air travel isn¡¯t just fun anymore
Before 9/11, air travel used to be fun apart from being a luxury. Though it has become quite normal to afford it, it¡¯s not just fun anymore. Long queues for security checks at airports and of course, the cavity search of special people and special cases is indeed a reality of the post 9/11 world.

Air travel further sucks as inflight checking is also quite common these days and it has come up post the fear unleashed after 9/11.
2. Racial profiling

Before 9/11, racial profiling did exist, but it wasn¡¯t a hoopla, especially if one belongs to South Asia or the middle east. Muslims were particularly targeted and their life in West has never been easy post the 9/11. Racial attacks in various western countries stand testimony, the world is a more divided place post the world¡¯s biggest terrorist attack.
3. Emergency response kits
Look around your desk and within seconds, one can lay hands on Essential Response Kit or something similar your company has provided you with in case of any sudden distress. Offices especially in West have become over cautious about any possible infiltration or any sort other calamity.

This might not exist in offices in India, but in years to come, you never know. By the way, the kits contain energy bars, blankets, dust masks, a plastic whistle and a green light stick.
4. Privacy got screwed
We have started realising it now in India post the Aadhar controversy, how the government has been meddling in our privacy, but the west has been feeling it for a while now.

In the US, the controversial USA Patriot Act of 2001 had come which made it easier for the law enforcing agencies to search, people¡¯s financial and medical records. In India, these things have started coming up now.
5. Unending conflicts in the middle east
Whether it¡¯s the oil prices, terrorism, refugee crises and name anything remotely related to the crisis in middle-east, and Afghanistan-it has a remote connection with 9/11. Syria is still one of the crises which has invoked huge refugee crises and it¡¯s one of the issues, which has the potential to take the world to another world war.
