In a shocker in Uttar Pradesh, a 23-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead by her brothers for marrying a Dalit man which her family opposed.
It happened in Mainpuri. She was called from Delhi and killed. Her name is Chandni Kashyap.
The accused brothers then buried her in a field and the family was aware of it, as per a TOI report. It also said that her husband last spoke to her on November 20.
On December 11, she was exhumed from the field after the cops searched for 10 hours. She eloped with and got hitched to 25-year-old Arjun Kumar on June 12 in UP's Pratapgarh district. They had been in a relationship for eight years.
They lived in Delhi's Trilokpuri area. After they tied the not, her brothers started talking to her and she was convinced to visit Mainpuri, her native place.
Arjun, Chandni's husband, claimed they took her away on November 17. On November 20, Chandni told Arjun over the phone that her family members assaulted her and did not want her to go back to Delhi.
"During the conversation, Chandni's phone disconnected abruptly and was switched off since then," he said.
On November 22, he filed a complaint at the Mayur Vihar police station and then went to her village to find out what happened to her.
When he got there with his mother and uncle, Chandni's family told him she was heading back to Delhi on her own.
An FIR has been filed against the brothers. The hunt is on for both of them.
