A Dalit man was allegedly thrashed to death in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh because he touched the food at a feast. He was allegedly beaten up by upper-caste men.
The victim is 25-year-old Devraj Anuragi. He had come to clean up. This was in the village of Kishanpur.
The accused are Bhoora Soni and Santosh Pal. When they saw Anuragi serving food for himself, they allegedly got angry and started attacking him. They allegedly beat him to death with sticks, as per a TOI report.
Two other accused Soni and Pal fled while the rest were arrested.
Booked under SC/ST acts
They have been booked for murder and the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. Chhattarpur SP Sachin Sharma said,
"They will be caught soon," he added. Police said they were marginal farmers and Bhoora has a criminal record.

Sadly this is not an isolated case. Back in October year, a 65-year-old Dalit man was allegedly beaten up and forcibly had to drink urine after lodging a complaint with the police against upper-caste men.
It happened in from Roda, Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh. The accused, Sonu Yadav, was upset at the complaint against him and wanted the victim to withdraw it. Yadavassaulted the Dalit man after he did not compromise.
