Arrested AAP MLA Has Exploited More Women In The Past, Says Delhi Police

Arrested AAP MLA Sandeep Kumar has exploited not one but many women, Delhi Police claimed in a court on Sunday while seeking a 14-day remand. However, they were allowed only a day's custody as the court asked cops to produce the ousted women and child welfare minister again on Monday.

The probe has revealed that Kumar's friend and personal secretary, Praveen, circulated the video, the police claimed, adding that they are probing if the legislator, who has been suspended from AAP, himself has given it to him.

Asked why the Prevention of Corruption Act has been invoked, the police told the court that the minster had misused his office by promising to take care of the women's children and get them a job.

Cops said they needed to recover the device used to shoot the film and the original clipping, and establish the chain used to circulate the video. "We are suspecting many more people could be behind this," the prosecution said. Kumar's lawyer said his client himself wanted to know the truth and was cooperating in the probe. Claiming that the man in the video seemed in his late twenties, he maintained Kumar's version that he was not in the video.

Coming out in Kumar's support on Sunday, his wife Ritu termed the episode a political conspiracy. "I stand by my husband. I am sure he will come out clean. He has been framed."

The tapes and photographs will be sent for forensic examination while cops are trying to track down the second woman in the photographs.

Referring to the FIR in which the woman said the incident took place three months before she sold her house in Sultanpuri, the police claimed that the video was less than a year old. According to the complainant, the house was sold six-seven months ago.

The FIR¡ªa copy of which is with TOI¡ª quotes the survivor as saying, "I began to feel dizzy after having the (sedated) drink after which he made physical relations with me and forced me to perform oral sex. I didn't know that he had filmed me. Out of embarrassment, I did not tell anyone about the incident but was recently informed about being in that video."

Kumar, who was arrested on Saturday, was taken to his house on Sunday morning and a search was conducted. However, no detail was revealed. Cops have gone through his mobile bills and are analysing call details.
