Bihar Assembly Elections: 375 Crorepatis Among The 1,064 Candidates
Manorama Devi, the Janta Dal (United) candidate from Atri constituency in Gaya district has declared assets worth Rs 53 crore assets including moveable assets worth Rs 26.19 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 27 crore.

This is excluding her family assets, reportedly worth around Rs 89 crore, making Devi one of the richest candidates in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly poll.
Devi, who is the daughter of a truck driver had been in the news for all the wrong reasons in 2016 when her son Rocky Yadav shot dead Aditya Sachdeva, a class X student allegedly for overtaking his SUV.
Devi is not alone when it comes to filthy rich candidates in Bihar Elections.
Super rich candidates
In fact, Devi is not the richest candidate seeking votes in Bihar elections - it is Anant Kumar Singh the RJD candidate from Mokama who has total assets worth Rs 68,56,78,795 including moveable assets of Rs 18,49,28,795 and immovables worth Rs 50,07,50,000.
He is followed by Gajanand Shahi of the Congress who is seeking election from Barbigha and has assets worth Rs 61,23,50,000 including Rs 97,50,000 movable and Rs 60,26,00,000 worth immovable assets.
Rajesh Kumar, the Congress candidate from Kutumba constituency in Aurangabad, is among the richest candidate in the first phase of Bihar Elections with assets worth Rs 33.6 crore.
Another JD(U) candidate Kaushal Yadav who is contesting from Nawada is the richest list with movable and immovable properties worth Rs 26.13 crore.
Interestingly, he is fighting against another crorepati - Vibha Devi, the wife of RJD leader Rajballabh Prasad Yadav who has assets worth Rs 22.47 crore.
According to the data by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) 375 out of the 1064 candidates are crorepatis and 93 of them have assets worth Rs 5 crore or above while 123 of them have assets between Rs 2 crores to Rs 5 crores.
On the other hand, Rinku Kumar, who is contesting from Gaya Town on a ticket from Log Jan Party-Secular, is the poorest candidate with total assets worth Rs 2,700.
Shailesh Rahi, contesting from Kutumba (SC) in Aurangabad, on the ticket of Akhil Hind Forward Bloc (Krantikari) has total assets of Rs 9,000, making him the second poorest candidate.
