We never want to think about losing our loved ones. But in Manesar, Haryana, a man not only thought about his wife's death but also convinced others that it had occurred. And all for money. Well, money has always made humans do the unthinkable.
Fake documents & death certificate
In 2023, the man from Manesar admitted his wife to a private hospital in Jaipur when she fell ill. After some tests, they left the hospital.
However, he worked with the hospital staff to fake her death and officially register it on April 6th.
He went to great lengths, even obtaining fake documents from a private hospital in Jaipur. Then, he used these documents to obtain an original death certificate from the municipality.
With this certificate, he filed an insurance claim of Rs 1 crore in July.
'Dead' person found alive & well at home
Pradeep Pareek, the registrar for birth and death records at the Municipal Corporation of Greater Jaipur, mentioned that the insurance company contacted the corporation to verify the authenticity of the death certificate.
"We issue a death certificate once the registration is completed on a hospital's identity portal. Additionally, we also consider a funeral report from the cremation ground or cemetery. In this instance, since we had received the portal registration, we issued the death certificate," Pareek explained.
During the verification process for the insurance claim, the forgery was uncovered when investigators found the woman, whose death was being investigated, alive and well at her home.
Latesh Gupta, the deputy registrar at the corporation, stated that the death certificate was revoked this week, and legal action against those involved in the conspiracy may be pursued.
Regarding the man from Manesar, his behavior acted as a warning, showing the results of being greedy and dishonest.
