Delhi Police Arrest Admin Of 'Bois Locker Room' Group That Shared Lewd Photos Of Minor Girls
Delhi Police have arrested the admin of the infamous Instagram chat group Bois Locker Room. The arrested admin is a class 12 student at a school based in NCR and is not a minor. The accused has also named two more members of the group during interrogation.
Two days after the nation woke up to a scandal where underage boys shared lewd and morphed pictures of minor schoolgirls, the Delhi Police have arrested the admin of the infamous Instagram chat group.
The chat group on the photo-sharing app, Bois Locker Room, sent shockwaves across the country.
The arrested admin of the group is a class 12 student at a school based in NCR and is not a minor. According to police officials, he had appeared for the Board examination this year.
According to a report by India Today, the accused has also named two more members of the group who were involved in sharing obscene photos of minor girls and chatting about objectifying them during interrogation.
Earlier, the police took into custody a juvenile who was a member of the group and questioned him. The interrogation led to the identification of several other members.
So far, 27 members of the group have been identified, of which 15 have been called for questioning.
The police said the devices used to engage in the ¡°offensive, vulgar communication¡± have been seized from the members of the group known as 'Bois Locker Room'.
The police have also asked Instagram to provide details of the accounts of the group, officials said.
Delhi Women and Child Development Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam said it was a shocking incident and cannot be tolerated. According to an official, the WCD department will work with the Directorate of Education to chalk out a strategy to curb such incidents.
On its part, Instagram said it takes the issue "very seriously" and does not allow such behaviour. It said the objectionable content featuring minor girls was removed from the platform as soon as it was made aware of it.
Information about the group came to light after a girl shared screenshots of its activities, following which the group started being called out on social media.
The police said during social media monitoring, it was noticed that the group was being used by the participants to share obscene messages and morphed pictures.
A case under relevant sections of IT Act and IPC was registered on Monday, officials said.
