The most visited Ganesh pandal in MUmbai - Lalbaugcha Raja has throngs of people visiting every day through the 11-day festival. People donate not just money, but gold, silver and other items too.
After counting the total donations collected, the organisers found Rs. 1,10,000 in demonetised Rs. 1,000 notes. While the counting is still on, the collection so far is Rs. 5.8 crore in cash, 5.5 kg of gold and 70 kg of silver.

The counting will finally be over on Friday after which the items collected will be auctioned. This year, the donations are apparently lesser than last year's Rs. 8 crores, perhaps due to the excess rainfall and floods that happened in the middle of the festival reported Hindustan Times.
