Divya Pahuja Murder: Accused Abhijeet's Car Recovered From Punjab, Ex-Model's Body Still Missing

The Haryana Police probing the murder of former model Divya Pahuja, who was shot dead in a hotel room in Gurugram, has recovered the car which was allegedly used to dispose of her body.

The BMW car, used by the prime accused, Abhijeet Singh, and registered in the name of his friend Ajay Mehta, was found abandoned at a bus stand in Patiala, Punjab.

Divya's body still missing

CCTV visuals from Hotel City Point, where the murder took place on January 2, showed two men dragging the body of the victim through the lobby and loading it on the car. The BMW car was last seen being driven towards Punjab.

Gurugram Police on Friday said it has recovered the vehicle, but the body of the 27-year-old is yet to be found.

"The car was spotted in the camera near toll, and we came to know that the car had moved towards Patiala. We were looking for this car in the murder case (of Divya Pahuja)," Karan Singh, Constable, Crime Branch, Gurugram Police said.

"This is the car; we've confirmed it from the number plate and the colour. The dead body has not been recovered yet. After the murder, the body was displaced in this car," he added.

Why Divya was killed

Pahuja, a former model from Punjab, was allegedly killed by Abhijeet Singh, the owner of the hotel where the murder took place, because she extorted money from him after blackmailing him with his 'obscene pictures'.

Three people, including Singh and two others, Hemraj and Omprakash, were arrested by Gurugram Crime Branch earlier on Wednesday.

How Police failed to find the body

According to the police, Pahuja was staying in Room Number 111 of the hotel where she was killed. Singh allegedly spent around six hours with the body in the hotel room before he sought the help of Om Prakash and Hemraj to dispose of it.

In the meantime, a hotel employee, Anoop, who was at the reception desk, alerted the police about something suspicious there.

But the cops failed to spot anything suspicious as they checked Room Number 114, which was booked in the accused's name.

Only after the victim's sister Naina raised another complaint the police found blood stains and other objects belonging to Pahuja inside Room Number 111.

By then, the three arrested accused had moved the body to the boot of Singh's car.

Singh then drove around 1.5 km and handed over the car's keys to his associates, identified as Balraj and Ravi Banga, who drove the car towards Punjab to dispose of the body.

Who was Divya Pahuja?

Pahuja, a former model, was the ex-girlfriend of Sandeep Gadoli, one of Gurugram's most-wanted gangsters who was killed by the police in a fake encounter in a Mumbai hotel in 2016.

It was alleged that the Haryana Police had worked with a rival gangster, Virendra Kumar alias Binder Gujjar and used Pahuja as a honey trap to lure Gadoli to the hotel in Mumbai, where he was shot dead.

Pahuja, who was allegedly paid Rs 2 crore for her role in the fake encounter, was arrested by the Mumbai police. She was granted bail only in June 2022 after spending some seven years in jail.
