Drunk Man Urinates On Senior Citizen Couple In UP Sampark Kranti Express, Gets Bail After Arrest

This year saw a string of incidents wherein drunk flyers would unabashedly urinate on their fellow passengers on flights, and one case that caused the ultimate furore was that of Air India. Just months apart, when this disturbing trend was seemingly subsiding, reports have shown that the pee-gate saga has made its way to trains.

The most recent incident took place on Wednesday night inside an AC coach of Uttar Pradesh Sampark Kranti Express, wherein a man in his early 20s allegedly urinated on a senior citizen couple under heavy influence of alcohol.

What happened inside the train

As per a TOI report, the alleged happening occurred in B3 coach when the train was moving towards Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Junction, and at that time, the victims were resting on lower berths 57 and 60. Also, it has been revealed that the accused urinated on them as well as their luggage.

"Our journey to the national capital was supposed to be peaceful, but never in our dreams had we thought that somebody would literally urinate on us," the passenger, a retired orthopaedic from Banaras Hindu University, told the publication.

The accused passenger was identified as Ritesh of Qutub Vihar, southwest Delhi, and he reportedly boarded the train from Mahoba.

"This man was under heavy influence of alcohol. After he urinated on us and our belongings, fellow passengers alerted the coach attendant and TTE. It was like hell, everything was wet and stinky. The accused was alighted at Jhansi railway station," said the victim.

Why accused was granted bail

TTE Basruddin Khan instantly called housing-keeping attendants to cleanse the coach. Thereafter, he notified RPF Jhansi about the incident and handed over Ritesh to them for further legal action.

"The accused, Ritesh, was booked under Railway Act 145 (drunkenness or nuisance)," said Manoj Singh, PRO of Jhansi division, North Central Railway. The accused was granted bail, as the section was only of drunkenness.

Not the first time on Sampark Kranti Express

This is not the first time a public urination case has come to light from Sampark Kranti Express. In August this year, a drunk railway employee was caught urinating in the third AC coach of this brand of express train.

The employee was identified as Dashrath Kumar, posted as OS in the Jabalpur Railway Division Mechanical Department.

The incident was reported on August 9, when he boarded coach B6 of Sampark Kranti Express to join the nationwide agitation for the New Pension Scheme scheduled in Delhi. He later got drunk on the train and started misbehaving. Eventually, he urinated publicly in the coach as passengers stood in anger and shock.

Dashrath later fell unconscious on the train itself. When the matter came to the notice of the railways, they immediately suspended Dashrath.
