Sushrut Mishra, creator of VCMedia, posted on X: "At 22, I borrowed ?15,000 from my ex to book a return trip to Bengaluru. I had nothing but a hunch. But that hunch converted ?15,000 into ?15,00,000."

From 15k to 1500k in 17 days

In September 2022, Sushrut Mishra found himself in a tight spot. His ex-girlfriend invited him to a developer event in Bengaluru, promising an opportunity to meet startup founders.

He writes, "I knew I'd get something there."
Despite having very little money, earning only Rs 40-50K per month and sending a chunk of it home, he decided to take the chance.
With just Rs 3000 left, he borrowed Rs 15,000 to book his flight (return trip) to Bengaluru.
Upon arrival, he faced another challenge - no money for a hotel. So, he sneaked into his ex's room and spent two days hiding there, taking turns with her to avoid detection.
During the event, one presentation caught his attention - a company was hiring for a developer advocate and community manager role. Seeing this as his opportunity, he seized the moment and approached them.
After a series of calls and interviews, he landed the job, turning his borrowed Rs 15K into a Rs 15 lakh job within just 17 days.

Sushrut admits there was a risk - if things didn't work out, he would have lost the borrowed money.
However, his intuition urged him to take action, and it paid off.
Although he eventually moved on from that job, this experience marked a turning point in his life, leading to better opportunities and growth.

Sushrut goes on to write, "Want to change your life too? Follow that hunch. Shoot your shot. Borrow from your ex. Or girlfriend. TAKE ACTION."
Another crucial factor in his career was networking. If he hadn't attended the startup event and introduced himself, none of this would have happened.
