Front Row Seats On Budget Carrier IndiGo Flights Get Costlier By Up To Rs 2,000
Budget airline IndGo has hiked the prices for passengers choosing to fly on seats with extra legroom. Selecting a window or aisle seat in the front row of an A321 aircraft having 232 seats will cost Rs 2,000, while the amount is Rs 1,500 if it is the middle seat.

As per the fees and charges mentioned for various services on the airline's website, selecting a window or aisle seat in the front row of an A321 aircraft having 232 seats will cost Rs 2,000, while the amount is Rs 1,500 if it is the middle seat.
How much will seat cost
The charges are the same for these seats in an A321 plane that has 222 seats and in an A320 aircraft having 186 seats. According to the airline's website, the same tariff is applicable for selecting these seats in an A320 aircraft with 180 seats.
In the case of ATR planes, the charge for seat selection is up to Rs 500.
Prices of seat no 18 on the A321-222 seater have also gone up under the new policy. All seats on the 18th row will now cost an additional Rs 1,500.
Reduced fuel charges last week
Incidentally, last week, the airline withdrew the fuel charge collected from passengers, which will reduce airfares by up to Rs 1,000 on certain long routes.
"As ATF prices are dynamic, we will continue to adjust our fares and components thereof, to respond to any change in prices or market conditions. IndiGo remains committed to its promise of providing of affordable, on-time, courteous, and hassle-free travel for our customers," an IndiGo spokesperson said.
In the wake of a spike in jet fuel prices, the airline started levying the fuel charge on each domestic and international ticket from October 6, 2023. The quantum of the fuel charge varied from Rs 300 to up to Rs 1,000, depending on the distance.
After introducing fuel charge in October last year, till 500 km Rs 300, from 501-1000 kms Rs 400, from 1001-1500 kms Rs 550, from 1501- 2500 kms Rs 650, from 2501 to 3500 Rs 800 and 3501 and above Rs 1000.
IndiGo fleet
With a fleet of over 340 aircraft, IndiGo was operating over 2,000 daily flights to 118 destinations ¨C 85 domestic and 33 international as of December 2023.
