Goa, Manipur Have Zero Active COVID-19 Cases & Other States Are Also Reporting More Recoveries
Goa was one of the first to become COVID-19 free after all the patients who had tested positive made full recoveries and have been discharged. Other states like Tripura Odisha Bihar Kerala and Union Territories of Puducherry Ladakh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands have more registered more recoveries than the number of active cases.
India's fight against COVID-19 is far from over and it is at a crucial juncture where any step in the wrong direction could reverse all the progress that the country has made so far.
But there is some ray of hope from across the country. Thanks to the strict lockdown measures, the exploding number of cases has come down to a certain extent.
Another positive news is the increase in the number of people recovering from COVID-19.
As of Monday, three Indian states have zero active COVID-19 cases.
Goa was one of the first to become COVID-19 free after all the patients who had tested positive made full recoveries and have been discharged.
The tourist paradise which had all the potential to be India's COVID-19 hotspot, due to the influx of people from across the globe did a stellar job by containing the spread.
The coastal state had only recorded seven COVID-19 positive cases and all the patients in Goa have recovered and have been discharged by Sunday. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said all the seven persons are natives of Goa, but six of them returned to the state from abroad.
"The repeat samples of the seven COVID-19 patients have tested negative for the infection. While six of them had been discharged earlier, the last patient was discharged on Sunday," Sawant said.
He said that after their recovery, all of them have been shifted to a quarantine facility, where they will be kept under observation for the next few days. The last of the seven COVID-19 cases in the state was detected on April 3.
The state government has set up a dedicated hospital to treat coronavirus patients. It has also set up a laboratory at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GHMC) for testing.
Two other states with zero active COVID-19 cases are Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh which had recorded two and one cases respectively who have now recovered.
Other states like Tripura, Odisha, Bihar, Kerala and Union Territories of Puducherry, Ladakh, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands have more registered more recoveries than the number of active COVID-19 cases.
