What is causing floods in Bengaluru
According to Dr N. Puviarasan, the Head of the Meteorology Department, Karnataka will be witnessing rains for the next three days because of a well-marked low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, and an upper-level trough is also extending up to the south coast in Karnataka.
"Due to the well-marked low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, and the upper-level trough extending up to the south coast in Karnataka, we are also getting northeast monsoon rainfall... The low-pressure system will move inland tomorrow or the day after, so until then we will have rain for the next three days... We are expecting heavy rainfall today... Tomorrow, we are expecting very heavy rainfall in coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka," Puviarasan said.
