These Instances Of Hindu-Muslim Unity During COVID Pandemic Showed Us The True India

India has always maintained its stance of Unity in Diversity. No matter what one's faith, have been known to come together when the need arises. Hindus and Muslims are the main two religions when it comes to magnitude in this country. While there have been a few tensions due to communal issues at times, more often than not, the people of both these faiths have stood by each other in times of need. The current COVID pandemic is one such example.

Since March, the world has been held to ransom and India is no exception. While a vaccine is just around the corner, normalcy is going to take some time to resume. There have been several instances of Hindus and Muslims coming together, being there for each other and showing the true face of India, one where we all live in harmony irrespective of our faiths. While there have been many such instances, these ones stand out:

1. Coming together to feed the needy

Bhopal saw the poor suffer a lot due to the lockdown. As a result, Hindus and Muslims started an initiative to feed those in need and were able to distribute a lot of food. Several hungry bellies were full.

2. Muslim neighbours perform last rites of Hindu man

In Meerut, when a Hindu man died and his own family did not want to come for the funeral due to the COVID risk, it was his Muslim neighbours who performed his last rites. They carried his body to the crematorium and chanted ¡®Ram naam satya hai¡¯ (truth is the name of Lord Ram). This show of brotherhood was heartfelt.

3. Hindu family arranges Iftar for a stranded Muslim boy

The pandemic clashed with the holy month of Ramzan. Which meant that when the son went down, Muslims would break their fast with Iftar. One boy was stranded in Assam due to COVID and a Hindu family arranged for his Iftar. Love broke all boundaries on this occasion.

4. Muslim man donates land worth Rs 80 lakh to rebuild Hanuman Temple

HMG Basha, a resident of Kadugodi in Bengaluru donated some of his land for the rebuilding of the Anjaneya Swamy temple on the Bengaluru-Hoskote highway.

5. Muslim leader opens Dasara at Lingayat mutt in Karnataka

Mukthar Pathan who is the chief of Karnataka Minority Development Corporation, inaugurated the festivities at Gurushanteshwara Samsthan Hiremath Mutt, wearing a skullcap and lighting a lamp at the mutt¡¯s programme hall.

These instances of people of different faiths coming together for each other during adverse COVID times shows there is always hope beyond despair.
