Over the past one year, fuel prices have skyrocketed with petrol currently selling at Rs 87.85 a litre in the national capital while diesel is at Rs 78.03. , according to Indian Oil Corporation, the country's largest fuel retailer.
Last year, on January 1, 2020, a litre of petrol cost Rs 75.14 while diesel costs Rs 67.96 per litre in the national capital.

Meanwhile, In Mumbai, petrol and diesel prices stand at Rs 94.36 and at Rs 84.94 respectively. Fuel prices are retailing at their record high levels at present in the country.
The current price of petrol is the highest in the national capital and diesel is at record high in Mumbai.
In Chennai too, petrol prices have skyrocketed with the retail price at Rs 90.18 and diesel selling at Rs 83.18. In the global markets, oil prices fell on Thursday, giving up some of the recent strong gains on profit-taking and speculation that the market¡¯s strength could tempt producers like Saudi Arabia to reduce output by less, according to a report by news agency Reuters.
Fuel prices are generally revised on a daily basis in line with benchmark international price and foreign exchange rates.
