Irfan Pathan joined his brother Yusuf Pathan, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate from Baharampur in West Bengal for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on his campaign trail.

During the roadshow, Yusuf Pathan and his brother Irfan Pathan waved at people from an open-roofed vehicle driving down the road.
"I have come here to support my brother. He should win and work for the people. When my brother wins, I will also come here to see his work. He meets the people here and tries to understand the problems people are facing," Irfan said, later.

Yusuf Pathan's political debut
41-year-old Yusuf Pathan is making his political debut with the TMC in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
Yusuf Pathan will contest against incumbent MP, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of Congress, and the BJP's Dr Nirmal Kumar Saha from Baharampur which will witness voting on May 13 in Phase 4 of the Lok Sabha Elections.
Yusuf Pathan cricket career
Yusuf Pathan who made his Team India debut against Pakistan in 2007 in the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 has represented the country in 77 matches including T20 and ODIs.

Yusuf Pathan also had a very successful IPL career, starting with the Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural season in 2008. He switched to Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011 and was a part of the outfit till 2017. In 2018, Yusuf Pathan was picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad and after a dip in form in the 2019 season, he was released by Hyderabad ahead of the 2020. He announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in February 2021.
