Major Chitresh Bisht, Who Lost His Life While Defusing An IED Was Due To Get Married In 19 Days

Two days after the grisly Pulwama attack martyred at least 40 of the Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), another Army jawan was killed while defusing a landmine near the Nowshera sector on Saturday.
31-year-old Major Chitresh Singh Bisht was a part of the Army¡¯s Corps of Engineers and was a leading a bomb disposal squad for sanitisation when he died. According to India Today, mines were detected on the track in Naushera sector around 3 pm.

While the major along with his team were successful in diffusing one of the mines, while neutralising another mine, the IED got activated and exploded which grievously injured the major. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Unfortunately, Bisht was to return home next month for a blissful marriage in Dehradun on March 07. His father who is also a retired police officer was engaged with his son¡¯s marriage preparations when he received the bad news.

Speaking to media, the inconsolable father said, ¡°He was our younger son. We used to speak almost every day over the phone but today we couldn¡¯t speak and this incident happened. He was about to get married next month.¡±
Trivendra Singh Rawat, Uttarakhand Chief Minister also paid tribute to Major Chitresh Bisht and offered condolences to the family. The Indian Army also in its tweet paid tribute to the martyr.
BJP state chief Ajay Bhatt and Congress state chief Pritam Singh also extended their condolences to the family.

The Pulwama attack which also injured at least 20 soldiers has left the country anguished and in deep pain. As soon as the news of Indian paramilitary troopers being killed by a suicide Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) bomber came out, the entire country came together in solidarity.
