Imam Hussein, a migrant worker in Kerala, has just had luck smile on him. The man has won the Nirmal lottery bumper prize of Rs 70 lakh, as per The New Indian Express.
Imam hails from Malda in West Bengal and he came to Kerala 5 years ago in search of a livelihood. The man has been working at Edathanattukara and its suburbs as a daily wager.
Imam wants to use the prize money to build a house and open his own shop back home.
According to DySP VA Krishnadas, Imam had kept the news secret until he called up the police control room and asked for help on October 22.
¡°We contacted the co-operative bank immediately. But the bank officials said they would collect the ticket on Saturday. As Imam was afraid to part with his ticket, he stayed at the police station all night,¡± he said.
¡°As documentation is necessary, Imam Hussein has been asked to bring us his Aadhaar and PAN cards, which are in his native place. Once the identification documents are received and processed, the amount will be credited to his bank account in two to three months,¡± said P Sreenivasan, secretary of the Allanallur Service Co-operative Bank.
This is indeed good news for Imam and his family at home as it will help make a better life.
