These Two Men From Mumbai Are Fixing Potholes & Rough Patches Every Day To Save Lives
Irfan Machhiwala and Mushtaq Ansari have started filling potholes and uneven patches on the Western Express Highway WEH at Bandra. The duo has filled up nearly 10 uneven patches since Wednesday concerned that the drivers may have to pay with their life. MMRDA the concerned agency told The Times of India that they have appointed a contractor to maintain the stretch but they seem to be totally unaware of any work has been undertaken.

Irfan Machhiwala and Mushtaq Ansari have started filling potholes and uneven patches on the Western Express Highway (WEH) at Bandra, given that the authorities have done nothing about the situation for long.
The duo has filled up nearly 10 uneven patches since Wednesday, concerned that the drivers may have to pay with their life.
So far, five people have died in Kalyan-Dombivli in a month due to potholes.

A 29-year-old building material supplier, Kalpesh Jadhav, died after he lost control of his scooter and was hit by a truck at 2 am on Friday. In Navi Mumbai, a 26-year-old man suffered fatal injuries when he fell off his bike after hitting a crater.
The road deaths in Mumbai due to potholes spike during the monsoon and authorities just shrug off their shoulders. Civic corruption has taken a toll on citizens.

¡°The highway is an arterial road and driving on it has become hell¡±, said Irfan Machhiwala, one of the two Mahim residents, filling up potholes. He said that two-wheeler riders experience severe jolts as they are forced to ride through these potholes.

Besides the potholes, there is a mountain of debris, including bricks and broken paver blocks, piled on both carriageways of the highway. From the debris lying on the side, Irfan and Mushtaq sieve what require and fill the potholes and patches. Ansari said that the situation of the road is extremely bad and they have shot videos of it so that government could take notice of it and act, but they did not bother.
The mess in Mumbai is massive and accountability only speaks volumes about administrative apathy.
