Two bank employees drown after SUV gets stranded in flooded Faridabad underpass

The torrential rains that have been battering the National Capital Region for the past few days have claimed two lives after two men in an SUV got trapped inside a flooded underpass in Haryana's Faridabad. The two men, Punyashray Sharma, who worked as a manager at HDFC Bank's branch in Gurugram's Sector 31, and Viraj Dwivedi, who worked as a cashier, were on their way to Greater Faridabad on Friday night when their vehicle got stuck in the flooded Old Faridabad Railway underpass.
Flooded underpass turns death trap
According to police, due to the rainfall throughout Friday, the underpass was inundated, and as a precaution, cars were being warned against entering it.

Before they could get out of the SUV, it submerged in the floodwater, trapping them inside. Though some passersby tried to help them, by the time the two men were pulled out, it was too late. While Dwivedi died on the spot, Sharma succumbed at a hospital.
Wall collapse kills one in Old Delhi
Another life was lost in a rain-related mishap in Old Delhi's Nabi Karim area on Friday when a wall of the Khwaja Baqi Billah Dargah collapsed. Two others were also injured in the incident.
Rain mayhem in Delhi-NCR
Delhi and adjoining cities, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad, have been experiencing heavy rains and waterlogging for the past few days. The incessant rains flooded many key roads connecting NCR, resulting in significant traffic disruptions on Friday.
According to the IMD, in the last 24 hours until 8:30 am on Saturday, Delhi recorded 57 mm of rainfall. The heavy rains also brought the national capital's minimum temperature down to 21.2 degrees Celsius, 3.9 notches below the season's average.
