Six Soldiers Killed As Another Avalanche Brings Republic Day Tragedy At Army Camp In J&K
The 51 Rashtriya Rifle camp in Gurez sector of Kashmir was hit by an avalanche on Wednesday evening. Initial reports suggest six soldiers were trapped in the avalanche which buried the camp. On Wednesday five people including an army captain and four civilians were killed in two separate avalanches in the state.
Less than 24 hours after a soldier was killed in an avalanche that hit an Indian army camp in Sonamarg, yet another army camp has been hit by the fury of snow. The 51 Rashtriya Rifle camp in Gurez sector of Kashmir was hit by an avalanche on Wednesday evening.
According to initial report six personnel were trapped in the avalanche which buried the camp.
PTI news agency has reported that six soldiers have lost their lives in the incident.
On Wednesday, five people including an army captain and four civilians were killed in two separate avalanches in the state.
Authorities in Kashmir have issued an avalanche warning for the higher reaches of the Kashmir Valley, following fresh snowfall since Tuesday.
They also advised people to stay away from mountains and foothills.
