In March 2022, UP police had tied up with Meta to alert them immediately if a post related to suicide was seen on Facebook or Instagram.
The alert sent to the UP Police included details like Shukla's registered mobile number, based on which it was traced to Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad.
Within 15 minutes, cops reached Shukla's residents and found him in his room.
The 23-year-old was later counselled for 6 hours before being sent back to his family.
Attempted suicide after failed business
According to police, Shukla used to work with Cashify in Gurugram and left his job to start his own business in the same field.
However, the business did not go as he had planned and Shukla suffered major financial losses.
Shukla took the extreme step after he had to borrow Rs 90,000 from his mother, who had saved the amount for his sister's marriage, to compensate for the loss he suffered in his venture, the police said.
In safer hands-On receiving a late night alert from @facebook, about a persons attempt to commit suicide, the social media centre of PHQ, sent his details to @ghaziabadpolice.
