UP Man Verbally Harassed 113 Women On Phone Calls Simply Out Of 'Frustration'; Arrested
Police in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh have arrested a man who is accused of harassing over a hundred women over the phone. The accused, identified as Ravendra Kumar Maurya was arrested in a forested area under Saini police station.

The accused, identified as Ravendra Kumar Maurya was arrested in a forested area under Saini police station on Thursday.
According to the police, the 45-year-old who works as a water-pump mechanic had a total of 113 cases of harassment filed against him by women from 36 districts in UP.
Wanted criminal
Cases were filed against Maurya in Unnao, Kanpur Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, Rae Bareli, Hardoi, Sultanpur, Mirzapur, Gorakhpur, Amethi, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Kaushambi and other districts after which he was declared a 'wanted criminal'.
The maximum number of complaints against the accused came from Lucknow, where 19 women had reported harassment by him.
According to the police, Maurya used to dial random numbers and if some women or girls picked up the call, he would use obscene language toward them.
He also used to make video calls and even record his bizarre acts.
Maurya used multiple sim cards he bought with fake identity documents to harass the women.
Would slip away from police
While investigating one of the complaints received on the women's helpline, cops learned that similar cases have been filed in other places as well.
All the calls were traced to adjacent locations in Kaushambi.
Efforts to arrest the accused repeatedly failed as Maurya used to frequently change his location and even hide in the forest for days.
On Thursday he was traced down in a village under Saini police station.
Cops go in disguise
A police team, disguised as mango traders went to the village on Thursday and found Maurya in a field.
Before he could flee, the cops overpowered Maurya and took him into custody.

Police have registered a case against him under sections 354, 419, 420, 68, 67, 71 and 294 of the IPC.
According to the police, Maurya, who has four younger brothers is unmarried.
He reportedly started making obscene phone calls out of frustration.
He had undergone several counselling sessions when he was reported for his behaviour in the early days but continued to do the same even after that.
