Designed to travel at 160 kilometre per hours, the train connects Delhi and Varanasi and it was called the semi-high speed train and since it also uses water-based organic solvent instead of chemicals for cleaning purpose, it was also called India¡¯s first green train.
The train, however, remained in news for wrong reasons including various breakdowns and also for being stoned at several times. But, there were some complaints such as the seats that don¡¯t adjust to passenger¡¯s posture, lack of cloth holder in the washroom, noise in cabin and few other big and small problems which needed to be addressed.
The new train would most probably reach New Delhi by the month¡¯s end and some of the major improvements would be fully functional washbasins and adjustable seats. It will be used in case, the old unit is sent for maintenance, the official told.

¡°Despite tight schedule and repeated damage, not a single trip of Vande Bharat Express has been cancelled and sometime we replaced the damaged glass within two hours to ensure the train runs on time the next morning. The new train will be kept on standby so that if needed, it can be replaced, and the old one can be taken for proper maintenance,¡± said a railway board official.
