Similar videos of foreign visitors facing such encounters in New Delhi are widely available online. In one viral video from last year, a young girl was seen persistently asking a foreign YouTuber and his female companion for money as they walked through the streets. "Give me some rupees. Give me rupees, please," the girl shouted, running after the visitors.

Last year, the Delhi High Court addressed this ongoing issue by asking the Delhi government to report on the measures taken for the rehabilitation of children found begging in the city. This directive was part of a public interest litigation (PIL) aimed at eradicating child begging in Delhi. The petitioner, Ajay Gautam, argued that despite numerous schemes and programs implemented by various agencies and government bodies, child begging remains a significant problem in the city.
