A celebration of heritage at the White House
On Monday, the White House celebrated Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) Heritage Month.
The occasion marked 25 years since the establishment of the White House Initiative and the President's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.
Leaders from five presidential administrations gathered for the first time to commemorate this significant milestone and acknowledge the contributions of AA and NHPI communities to American society.
"From Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders whose ancestors have called their lands home for hundreds of years to Asian immigrants who have newly arrived and those whose families have been here for generations - AA and NHPI heritage has long been a part of the history of our great country and a defining force in the soul of our nation," stated US President Joe Biden.
Lip-smacking feast to go with it
Indian-American community leader Ajay Jain Bhutoria gave a sneak peek into the lively festivities at the White House, showcasing a vibrant celebration of minority communities and their vibrant lives in the US.
Among the highlights were a group of musicians jamming out to the iconic Saare Jahan Se Achha on violins and one man on the cello.
And then there was the mouthwatering feast, featuring a platter of pani-puris stealing the show!
