Indian Railways To Restart Passenger Train Operations From 12 May, Online Booking Of Tickets Will Begin At 4 PM Today
Indian Railways will gradually restart passenger train operations from 12 May. Passenger train services were suspended due to a lockdown announced on 25 March. After this resume of services in Railways they will start more special services on new routes.
The Indian Railways will gradually restart passenger train operations from 12 May, to start only 15 pairs of trains, the national transporter said on Sunday.
Special trains from New Delhi station connecting these places will be running Dibrugrah, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgoan, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi.
All the passenger train services were suspended due to a lockdown announced on 25 March.
After this resume of services in Railways, they will start more special services on new routes, this service would be based on availability of couches after a reservation of 20,000 for COVID-19 centres and adequate number of coaches being reserved to make sure that the operations of up to 300 trains everyday as ¡°Shramik Special¡± for the migrants.
Booking for these trains - reservations will start by 4 pm on 11 May and will be available only on the IRCTC website -
Ticket booking counters at the railway stations will remain closed and no counter tickets even including platform tickets will be issued, it mentioned.
Only passengers with valid confirmed tickets will be allowed to enter railway stations. It will be mandatory for passengers to wear face masks or cover and undergo a screening at the departure and only asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to board the trains.
