After Cyclone Nisarga, Mumbai Breathes The Cleanest Air Of 2020

Cyclone Nisarga made its presence felt at Maharashtra¡¯s Raigad on Wednesday afternoon. Four people died due to the cyclone and several others got injured across the state of Maharashtra.
There was, however, a positive impact of the cyclone, as Mumbai records its cleanest air on June 3, said the report published in Hindustan Times.
According to the report published, the cyclone brought high speed of winds and washed away the particulate matter -PM. The air quality system of Air Quality Weather Forecast and Research - SAFAR, AQI was recorded at 22. This number signifies the good quality of air.
Cleanest air was recorded in Mazgaon, which showed the air quality at four while the least clean air was in Malad and Borivali with the AQI of 43.
Previously, the lowest AQI was seen at 25 which was recorded on 23 by SAFAR.
Gufran Beig, director, SAFAR told Hindustan Times, ¡°The wind speed was 72 km/h on Wednesday in Mumbai which dispersed pollutants combined with intermittent showers that cleared the air¡±.
However, it is also noted that the lockdown had played its part in the improvement of air quality. It is during this time that the pollution as compared to before readings.
