While honing his skills with pull shots, Mitchell's shot accidentally flew over the safety net, hitting a young fan's iPhone and causing both damage to the device and injury to the spectator.

Despite the mishap, Mitchell showcased his prowess on the field, stepping in at No.3 in the 2nd over of the innings following Ajinkya Rahane's dismissal for 9. Displaying finesse, Mitchell contributed a quick 30 off 19 balls, including a couple of boundaries and a maximum, before falling victim to Harshal Patel, who claimed three wickets. Ravindra Jadeja emerged as the top scorer with 43 runs, guiding the defending champions to a total of 167-9.
