Missing Head Of Hong Kong Model Found In Cooking Vessel, Cops Say Skull Had No Skin Or Meat

A gruesome death is sending shockwaves across Hong Kong, a city known for its safety and low crime rates.

The 28-year-old socialite and model, Abby Choi, met her untimely end over what was believed to be a luxury apartment she had bought under the name of her former father-in-law. When she planned to sell the 1,820 square foot flat, purchased for over HK$70 million ($8.9 million) in late 2019, the family reportedly objected and allegedly murdered her.

To local residents¡¯ horror, the killers Choi¡¯s ex-husband¡ªAlex Kwong and former in-laws Kwong Kau and Jenny Li allegedly used the recipe for traditional Cantonese slow-cooked soup to dispose of her body.

Investigation has revealed that partial remains, including a skull, hair and several ribs, believed to be hers, were found in the fridge and soup pots of the seaside house in Lung Mei Tsuen, police said. It was earlier reported that her dismembered body parts were found in a refrigerator.

¡°Two pots of stew believed to contain human tissue" were left at the scene, officials had said.

According to superintendent Alan Chung, the head had ¡®no skin or meat on it¡¯ and was boiled till only her skull remained, reported the Times of London. A forensic examination has also found a hole at the back of the skull that could be evidence of a fatal attack.

Pao Jo-yee Cheng, a friend of Choi¡¯s who offered a $127,000 reward for Alex Kwong¡¯s capture before his arrest, told the Associated Press Choi got along well with her in-laws and her ex-husband, with whom she shared two children.

That relationship went sour earlier this month, a police investigation reportedly found, when Choi decided to sell the (U.S.) $9,000,000 property she had bought for her ex-husband to live in. Though Choi promised to house her ex-husband elsewhere, the South China Morning Post reports she faced significant backlash from her ex-father-in-law, under whose name she had purchased the property.

Criminal charges against former in-laws, ex-husband arrested

Choi's former in-laws are now facing criminal charges and her ex-husband has been arrested as he attempted to flee Hong Kong by high-speed boat with thousands of dollars in cash and luxury watches on Saturday.

Choi was first reported missing on Feb 22, a day after she and her former brother-in-law were supposed to pick up her 8-year-old daughter from school, but Choi never appeared.

Two days later, as police investigated her disappearance and attempted to confirm details given to them by Choi¡¯s in-laws, police discovered a pair of female legs believed to be Choi¡¯s stuffed in a refrigerator inside an apartment.
