While they are all wealthy in their own right, none of them can claim the title of "richest man who ever lived." That title belongs to Amenhotep III. Before you say, "Sorry, but who?" let us explain.
Who was Amenhotep III
Amenhotep III, also known as Amenhotep the Magnificent or Amenhotep the Great, was an Egyptian pharaoh who is believed to have ruled ancient Egypt from around 1386 to 1351 BC.

Amenhotep III's face revealed
So why are we talking about Amenhotep III now? Researchers have recreated his face using scientific modeling technology, revealing to the modern world what one of the richest men that ever lived looked like.

Brazilian graphics expert Cicero Moraes, who brought the face back to life, said the reconstruction began by digitally recreating the pharaoh's skull using images and data from his mummy.
What history says about Amenhotep III's looks
Archaeologist Michael Habicht from Flinders University in Australia said that despite his face and body being depicted on statues throughout Egypt, the reconstruction looks quite different.
¡°Research carried out in the 1970s described Amenhotep III as an obese, sick, and sedentary man who was almost bald and suffered from dental problems in the last years of his life," he said.
