Russian Artist Lies Facedown With Hands Tied To Protest Bucha Massacre

A Russian artist has staged a visual protest on the streets of Moscow and other cities as a mark to protest the Bucha massacre by the Russian troops in Ukraine.

The artist recreated the horrific images of those seen dead in Bucha, Ukraine, just days after Russian soldiers were accused of genocide.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was seen lying facedown on the streets of Russia's capital this morning with his hands tied, wearing a brown jacket and black hoodie.

The images mirror pictures that were released on Sunday evening of Ukrainians found dead in the commuter city of Bucha, just 25km from the country's capital Kyiv.

In Bucha, numerous dead bodies were found on streets and in mass graves with their hands tied behind their backs.

The protest called 'Bucha-Moscow', according to Russian news site Holod Media, comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky prepares to address the UN Security Council this afternoon over the 'genocide'.

After the photos emerged Russia claimed that the 400 corpses found in mass graves and on the streets of Bucha had been planted after Vladimir Putin's troops had left the city.

However, satellite images show that the bodies had been lining the streets more than two weeks ago while Russian soldiers were still in the city.

One person on Twitter, Bella Wallersteiner said: 'A Russian artist reconstructs photos of Bucha dead during a protest in Moscow.

'Given that just holding up a blank piece of paper in Russia is enough to get you arrested, this is brave.'

Earlier, Ukrainian authorities have found the bodies of five civilians with their hands tied in a village west of Kiev, including those of the mayor, her husband, and son.

Police showed four bodies, including that of the mayor, half-buried in a grave in a pine forest bordering her house in Motyzhyn.

The dead, including two men not part of the mayor's family, had their hands tied behind their backs.
