Wife's Instagram post leads to the capture of Brazilian drug lord on the run
Roland, who was wanted for his purported links to Mexican drug cartels, had allegedly laundered $900 million over the span of five years.
A Brazilian drug lord, Ronald Roland, who had eluded law enforcement for two years, has finally been apprehended. The hilarity of this development lies in the fact that Roland's arrest was facilitated by an Instagram post that his wife, Andrezza de Lima, had put out.
Drug lord had laundered $900 million in 5 years
Roland, who was wanted for his purported links to Mexican drug cartels, had allegedly laundered $900 million over the span of five years. However, his wife Lima, who nonchalantly tagged their lunch location on Instagram, brought an end to Roland's long period of successful evasion of the police.
According to a Daily Mail report, De Lima, who owns a bikini shop¡ªone of 100 businesses Roland allegedly used for money laundering¡ªoften shared posts on the platform. The publication also shared a video montage showing the drug lord and his family enjoying a vacation.
Reactions to arrest of drug lord
Social media has been swarmed with reactions to the news. One user wrote, ¡°Attention is an addiction,¡± while another added, ¡°Can¡¯t get any stupider than that.¡± A third commented, ¡°How did she even have an account? I¡¯d be scared.¡±
Ricardo Ruiz, a federal police officer, spoke to Fant¨¢stico, as reported by the Metro, saying, ¡°There are ads for bikinis but whether the bikinis were enough to buy multi-million dollar aircraft or luxury vehicles is another question.¡± He added, ¡°We found partners of companies, for example, who work in a restaurant, but who are partners in several companies that moved tens of millions of reals.¡±

Ruiz also told the Mirror, ¡°He is a very cautious person. There were numerous PF operations that investigated criminal organisations prominently involved in drug trafficking throughout South and Central America and Mexico, and Ronald was investigated in these operations for association with these major drug traffickers.¡±
Both Roland and his wife, who is under investigation for potential involvement, refused to discuss the matter. They issued a statement saying they would not comment at this time.
