Chris Gayle Now Has The Most Sixes In World Cup History. Can He Be Just As Lethal As He Is In The IPL?

Chris Gayle was in devastating form in the World Cup opener vs Pakistan as he slammed 50 in 34 balls. In doing so, he also achieved a new record of most sixes in the history of the tournament. He now has 40 in 27 games having gone past AB de Villiers' 37 in 23.

His innings contained 3 sixes and 6 fours. It was a great knock indeed. And if we know him well enough, well it may just be a sign of things to come.

Why do we think so? Because of the form he displayed in the IPL which ended earlier in May. Yes, he is in that zone, but the question is can he be just as relentless in the World Cup. If West Indies are to make it to the semis, well then the big man needs to fire and this is just the curtain raiser.

In the IPL Gayle is way ahead of the pack with 326 sixes. AB de Villiers is a distant second with 212. Just shows the kind of power he can exert when in full flow. Pakistan only got a small taste of the carnage that can follow. This could well be the tip of the iceberg.
