With 3 Centuries In 4 Innings, Rohit Sharma Is Making The Test Opening Slot His Own
It is his 6th Test hundred.
Rohit Sharma seems to have hit a purple patch since being granted the opening slot in Tests. He started off with scores of 176 and 127 in the first Test vs South Africa and now in Ranchi he has once again hit the 3-figure mark.

This was a more disciplined innings as the hosts were reeling at 39/3 after opting to bat first. Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli all fell cheaply and it certainly pegged them back. But along with Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit rebuilt the innings and registered his 6th Test hundred, his 3rd as opener in 4 innings. His only failure so far as a Test opener is 14 in Vizag.
The century came in 130 balls and contained 13 fours and 4 sixes. Rohit has built the base for a big total as India aim for a 3-0 whitewash over the Proteas.

Rohit might just be the answer to our players at the top of the order in red-ball cricket. Of course the real test will come when he plays in seaming and swinging conditions overseas where the ball will also be coming with pace and bounce. But for the moment, he is doing exactly what was expected of him.
