WWE legend Kurt Angle says he is disappointed by Baron Corbin¡¯s release, feels he wasn't fully utilised
Kurt Angle, who retired from professional wrestling following his defeat to Corbin at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, said the development was unfortunate as WWE didn¡¯t capitalise on King Corbin's potential.
Former Olympic gold medallist and 13-time world champion wrestler Kurt Angle has expressed his disappointment over the recent decision of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) to let go of one of their talents ¨C Baron Corbin. WWE recently revealed that Corbin's contract would not be renewed once it expires.
Angle disappointed by Corbin's release
Angle, who retired from professional wrestling following his defeat to Corbin at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, said the development was unfortunate as WWE didn¡¯t capitalise on King Corbin's potential.
¡°Baron, I think he¡¯s underrated. I think it kinda sucks. They started utilising him the way they should have. They had him beat me, which I was okay with. It was my last match. And obviously, you are going to lose your last match when you retire. But, Baron after that, he ended up winning King of the Ring. And then nothing else happened with him," Angle recently told WrestleZone in an interview.

Corbin failed to break out of mid-card
The 40-year-old Corbin, a former footballer and amateur boxer, started his career with the WWE in 2012 with NXT. Following his main roster call-up in 2016, Corbin had a steady career on both RAW and SmackDown. But despite winning the Money in the Bank, Corbin failed to break into the top, and the only belt he managed to win was the United States Championship.
'They didn¡¯t do much with him'
In 2019, when Angle was on his way out of WWE, he put Corbin over in his final match at WrestleMania 35, which gave his career some momentum but once again failed to catapult him to the top.
¡°It¡¯s a little disappointing to know that he beat a legend at WrestleMania, the legend¡¯s last match. And they didn¡¯t do much with him after that. For me, it makes me feel like I did that for nothing,¡± Angle said.
I should have been world champion: Corbin
Responding to Angle, Corbin said he wished he had become world champion so that he could pay honour to what Angle did for him.
To be fair, that¡¯s one of the reasons I wish I had become world champ! It would paid honor to what Kurt did for me. I will forever appreciate it and wish I could have done more to make it worth it for him. https://t.co/9OVJkUsHNm
