Elon Musk tweeted that if advanced AI beyond basic bots hasnt been applied to manipulate social media it wont be long before it is. He further added Anonymous bot swarms deserve a closer examination If theyre evolving rapidly somethings up The tweet by Elon definitely is a little ambiguous.
We already know how Elon Musk is not fond of AI and is of the view that it can take over the planet, much to our dismay and cause our eventual destruction.
And a recent tweet supported this very notion, however with a different perspective.

Elon said in a tweet, "If advanced AI (beyond basic bots) hasn't been applied to manipulate social media, it won't be long before it is." he further added, "Anonymous bot swarms deserve a closer examination. If they're evolving rapidly, something's up."
The tweet by Elon definitely is a little ambiguous. It doesn't specifically tell us what kind of manipulation is he trying to warn us about?
It somewhere hints at social media accounts being run by AI bots that seem really convincing. Bots are usually software-based programs that are used on social media either to boost popularity of a certain post by sharing or retweeting it multiple times, from different accounts. Bots have also been known to use this tactic to promote fake news across social media platforms around the globe.

His warning particularly towards bot swarms deserving a closer examination is definitely something that cannot be taken lightly. It is however still unclear if Musk has access to confidential information pertaining to such AI bots or is it just something he thought about making the world aware about.
This isn't the first time Elon has revealed his pessimistic side towards AI. In the recent Shanghai Summit, he participated in a debate with Alibaba's Jack Ma on AI and how he felt it would completely take over the world, which Jack Ma completely disagreed with.

According to Jack Ma, AI can never be smarter than humans. He stated, "Computers may be clever, but human beings are much smarter," Ma said. "We invented the computer -- I've never seen a computer invent a human being." He also stated that he would be really interested to see two computers compete with each other.
