This Rs 1.74 Crore Luxury Saloon Makes The Mercedes S-Class And BMW 7-Series Look Mainstream
The 2019 Maserati Quattroporte is the first ever model to be sold in India. The luxury sedan is powered by a 30-litre V6 turbo diesel engine churning out 275 bhp and 600 Nm of peak torque. It uses an 8-speed ZF-sourced automatic transmission and a redesigned gearshift lever inside the cabin.
Back in 1963, an Italian auto maker came up with a unique idea to present an all new format of sedans to the world. The firm took a V8 racing engine, fitted it into a luxury sedan and unveiled what was the fastest sedan in the world at the time. It was called the Maserati Quattroporte. BTW Quattroporte means 'four doors'.
Cut to 2019 and the legacy of the trend setter is still going on. Now, it has taken the shape of the 2019 Maserati Quattroporte, the sports sedan that has recently made its way to India. At a hefty price tag, of course - Rs 1.74 crore (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
The price mentioned above is for one of the versions of the sedan, GranLusso. The costlier variant is the GranSport, at Rs 1.79 crore. As for what¡¯s different with this year¡¯s make, the 2019 Quattroporte new exterior colours, alloy wheel designs and new Pieno Fiore leather upholstery.

The front grille of the car has been made larger than before and interestingly, draws its cues from Maserati¡¯s concept - Alfieri. Maserati will be presenting 10 colour options to the buyers, including two new tri-coat options comprising the Rosso Potente and the deep dark Blu Nobile. Similar options will be offered for the alloy wheel designs in either 20 or 21-inch rim sizes.
Once the exteriors of the luxury sedan have been decided upon, buyers can also choose between three colour shades of Pieno Fiore leather for the seats and door panels. These can be complemented by two new high-gloss interior veneers.
A substantial update for the interiors also includes a new MTC+ infotainment system that comes with enhanced display graphics than before, as per the company claims. Accompanying this, are 15 speakers, mid-range drivers and rear-woofers made from aramid fibre, along with a 1,280-watt amplifier, all carrying a Harman Kardon Premium Sound logo. Not enough? There is even an option to upgrade to a Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound system.

But what about the performance?
Even for those who have never heard of the car before, it is quite easy to guess that the 2019 Quattroporte will be a beast just as much as its a beauty. The luxury sports sedan is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine churning out a 275 bhp and 600 Nm of peak torque. It uses an 8-speed ZF-sourced automatic transmission.
The transmission links to a redesigned gearshift lever inside the cabin. It now offers a shorter travel and a more instinctive shift pattern. Maserati claims that the update now allows a better gear shift even between automatic, manual or parking mode.

For all those needed that extra noise from their vehicles, Maserati also offers an Active Sound technology on the Quattroporte diesel to add a sportier to the exhaust note to the exhaust system.
While the company is taking orders for the 2019 Quattroporte across all its dealerships in India, it says that the first ever model in India has already been bought by a Delhi resident. Now that is surely one way to stand out from the regular luxury offerings on the roads like the Mercedes-Benz S class or the BMW 7-series.
