Instagram Explores Collaborative Carousel Posts, Allowing Friends To Join The Fun

Instagram is testing a new feature that lets your friends add images and videos to your carousel posts. Just last week, Instagram introduced a series of new features, including a dedicated tab for posts from verified users (ugh!). Now, it appears that Meta-owned Instagram is testing a collaborative carousel post feature wherein users can ask their friends to contribute to their main feed posts.

How would the feature work?
This feature would come in especially handy to travellers and content creators who can simply add collaborators and share images and videos collectively in a single post. According to Instagram head Adam Mosseri, the feature is currently being tested on Instagram and there is no concrete rollout date set for the same.
"Before posting a carousel, you can turn on the ability for your followers to submit photos and/or videos, which you can approve to add to the post," Mosseri wrote on Threads.

Mosseri also shared an image that shows the feature in action. An "Add to post" button may be seen on the bottom left corner of a carousel post. A user's friends may tap the button and add their contributions to the post. There's another way too. Users can swipe to the last slide of the relevant post and tap "Add to post" to add more images or videos to the existing post.

However, limiting the number of items to 10 would not be the greatest idea if Instagram actually moves forward with this feature. This experimental feature would only work if your friends have it turned on. In addition, the owner of the original post's account would have to approve all images and videos before they go live.

The Meta-owned platform is leaning too much on Elon Musk's antics. The company also introduced a paid verified programme and now seems to be working on a tab that shows only verified users.

Another report claims that Meta is planning on charging users in the European Union up to EUR 13 (about Rs. 1,130) a month for access to ad-free versions of Facebook or Instagram on their smartphone. Currently, the ad-supported version is free for all users.
