Instagram Subscriptions: Creators Can Charge Money For Exclusive Content
The test is currently being conducted with 10 US-based creators which include, actor-influencer Alan Chikin Chow, basketball player Sedona Prince, gymnast Jordan Chiles, astrologer Aliza Kelly, model Kelsey Cook and digital Creator Lonne IIV.
Instagram is now testing subscriptions that will allow creators to offer exclusive content to followers who wish to pay for it.

The test is currently being conducted with 10 US-based creators which include, actor-influencer Alan Chikin Chow, basketball player Sedona Prince, gymnast Jordan Chiles, astrologer Aliza Kelly, model Kelsey Cook and digital Creator Lonne IIV.
Followers could pay a monthly subscription fee to access exclusive subscriber-only content from creators they follow. This subscription starts at $0.99 per month and can go as high as $99.99 per month. The fee can be set by the creator and Instagram has also promised to not take a cut from the revenues at least until 2023.
Exclusive content would include subscriber-only stories and live streams. While this surely is a welcomed inclusion for content creators on the platform, many weren¡¯t limited without this feature, as many used the ¡®Close Friends¡¯ section to filter out content to paid subscribers as well as receive donations/contributions from platforms like Patreon.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta (formerly Facebook) said in a statement, ¡°Launching a test of subscriptions on Instagram in the US today. This will help creators earn more by offering benefits to their most engaged followers like access to exclusive Lives and Stories. I'm excited to keep building tools for creators to make a living doing creative work and to put these tools in more creators' hands soon.¡±
