Apple Unveils Affordable iPhone SE 5G And A More Powerful iPad Air

After several leaks and speculations, Apple has finally gone ahead and released its most affordable 5G smartphone in its lineup -- iPhone SE third generation that brings with it reminiscent aesthetics with upgraded hardware under the hood.

The device looks nothing like earlier leaks with bright colourful back panels and white borders.

Instead, the 2022 iPhone SE is adopting aesthetics from the slightly dated iPhone 8 with a similar glass back as well as a single camera module.

The device gets the same dated 4.7-inch retina display at the front with the Touch ID button instead. You get three colour variants -- Red, White and Dark Blue. It does get the shatter-resistant glass from the iPhone 13 series.

Under the hood, the device is sporting a 6-core A15 Bionic -- the same chipset found on the iPhone 13 series, although expect the device to sport lower RAM. The chipset gets a 16-core neural engine too for AI-related tasks.

The device is also expected to sport a better battery life, even with 5G connectivity.

In the camera department too the device has received some upgrades. While it retains the same single shooter at the back, it borrows the newer sensor which means better colours and low-light performance in the device. It also gets Deep Fusion for better colour reproduction.

iPhone SE 2022 will be priced at Rs 43,900 and will go on sale in India starting March 18.

Apple has also upgraded the iPad Air series, giving it a major performance boost while retaining the existing aesthetics.

The iPad Air gets the M1 chip that powers the current generation iPad Pro that as per Apple's claims is two times faster than a laptop in its price point.

The chipset also gets a 16-core neural engine for AI-related tasks. The chipset also makes the iPad Air compatible with 5G networks. Even the USB Type C connector gets an upgrade which as per Apple's claims is 2X faster.

The display is still the same Liquid Retina display. However, the front camera on it has also received a major upgrade, with a new 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera featuring 'centre stage'.

iPad Air is priced at Rs 54,900and it'll go on sale starting March 18.
