Is Someone Misusing Your Aadhaar Data? Here's How To Check Your Verification History Online
If you feel like something's wrong, there's no need to stand in a queue to figure out what it is.
With regulations the way they stand right now, your Aadhaar card sees a lot of use. You need to link it to your bank account, your mobile number, and probably a host of other services as well. The thing is, it can be easy to lose track of just where you¡¯ve broadcast your Aadhaar, so it¡¯s good that there¡¯s an easy way to check up on it. Here¡¯s how:
Firstly, you need to visit the website for the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) at https://uidai.gov.in/, the government agency issuing your Aadhaar card. Here, click the link marked ¡®Aadhaar Authentication History¡¯ under the ¡®Aadhaar Services¡¯ tab.
Once that¡¯s done, you¡¯ll need to log in using your 12-digit Aadhaar number, as well as the 4-digit captcha code below it. Keep your Aadhaar-registered mobile close at hand at this point, as you¡¯ll need to verify your request with an OTP, one that¡¯ll be sent to you when you click the ¡®Generate¡¯ button.
Once that¡¯s done, you¡¯ll have a few search filters to pick from to see where your Aadhaar card has been verified. You can check the history for up to six months prior. Under ¡®Authentication Type¡¯ it¡¯s probably best to just set it to ¡®All¡¯, and then choose the date range if you¡¯re looking to confirm a specific verification process.
The ¡®Number of Records¡¯ filter here just determines how many entries in the list you¡¯ll see on a single page, with a maximum of 50. Once you¡¯re all set, enter the OTP you generated in the specified box and click ¡®Submit¡¯. The list will then show you all the places your Aadhaar has been used for verification.
You can use this to make sure a confirmation has come through, but it¡¯s particularly useful in case you believe someone is misusing your card. If that¡¯s the case, you can report it to UIDAI by calling the toll-free number 1947, dropping an email to help@uidai.gov.in, or through the portal here.
