Daisy, as it's named, is a successor to the previous recycling robot Liam, revealed in 2016. In fact, Daisy has been built using some old parts recovered from Liam, making it a recycled recycling bot. The coolest part however is the speed at which Daisy works.
The robot is capable of disassembling up to a whopping 200 iPhones in an hour.
That includes nine different versions of the device, with the bot removing certain components and separating others as it goes.
Since Earth Day is coming up, Apple is also announcing a temporary initiative it calls give GiveBack. Under this, customers can turn in their old devices to be recycled, through Apple stores or from the company website.
For every old device it receives between now and April 30, Apple has said it will make a donation to Conservation International. That's in addition to the usual practice of giving the donors an iTunes gift-card or store credit.
It was just last year that Apple announced it was powered by 100 percent renewable energy around the world, through purchasing green energy and investments in the sector.
"We're going to keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible with the materials in our products, the way we recycle them, our facilities and our work with suppliers to establish new creative and forward-looking sources of renewable energy because we know the future depends on it," Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement.
